The Glory of Israel Isn't a Place. It's a Person.
This week, Paul unpacks one of the most powerful truths in Scripture, the glory of your people Israel. He opens in Luke chapter two, where Simeon, an old man who had spent his life praying in the temple, finally sees what he had waited for. A young couple carries in an eight day old baby, and Simeon recognizes something far greater than a child. He recognizes the return of the glory of God, the very presence he had been interceding for.
Paul walks through the Hebrew word kavod, the weighty presence of the living God, and explains why this glory was never about a place or a mighty army. It is a person, Yeshua, and if you believe in Him, that same Spirit that raised Him from the dead now lives in you. Paul makes the case that the glory of Israel was never sent for the destruction of her enemies but for their salvation, and he leads into a heartfelt call to prayer for the nations still waiting to see Yeshua for who He truly is.
Paul closes with the words of Corrie ten Boom, a reminder to never be afraid to trust the unknown into the hands of the God who is known, along with a word of encouragement from Psalm 42, that the salvation of His presence is available to you right now, whatever you are facing.
